About the Western Sahara
Western Sahara or the sahrawiske Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) is a rural area in northwestern Africa. Western Sahara is a former Spanish colony that Morocco and the Polisario frihedssbevægelsen requires disposal.
History
In the town of Tifariti, north-east of Western Sahara have been found petroglyphs, cave paintings and other signs of settlements that are over 8,000 years old. Along the coast, it is likely that there were settlements even earlier.

After the war between Morocco and SADR from 1975 to 1991 is now three-quarters of the territory occupied by Morocco (the coast and the western parts), while the fourth is controlled by the SADR (desert areas to the east). Territory’s legal status is that it treated the UN as a colony, with Spain still has administrative power, after which the colonial master has not completed its responsibility to give the territory autonomy. Morocco is the de facto administrative power.
