Uzbekistan is a country in Central Asia. Uzbekistan borders on Kazakhstan in the north, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan to the south and Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan in the east. Uzbekistan has previously been part of the Soviet Union, declared independence first September 1991.
