About Nicaragua
Nicaragua is a republic in Central America. Republic is in area the largest country in Central America but also has the lowest population density. To the north shares a border with Nicaragua and Honduras to the south of Costa Rica. To the west lies the Pacific Ocean and the east lies the Caribbean Sea. Its name is a combination of Nicarao which was the largest American Indian tribe by the Spaniards arrival, and the Spanish word agua, meaning water, referring to the two large lakes in its western part, Managua Lake Nicaragua lake.
Highest point is Mogoton (2,438 ft.). Nicaragua can be roughly divided into three geographic regions: the lowlands in the west, highlands in the north, and Moskitokysten in the east. The lowlands consist of a fertile plains, and this is where most of the country’s agricultural products are produced, the three largest cities in Nicaragua, Managua, Leon and Granada are all in the lowlands. Highlands in the north has a cooler climate. Approximately one quarter of the country’s agricultural production is done here, with coffee as the main utility plant. Moskitokysten consists mostly of tropical rainforest and pine forest, savanna and sparsely populated. The climate is tropical and very humid.
