Fiji

Fiji is a country located in Oceania in the South Pacific, about two thirds of the way from Hawaii to New Zealand. The country consists of 9 major islands and 300 smaller islands and atolls of volcanic or coral origin. Of these, only the 100 inhabited. The archipelago is situated in Melanesia between Vanuatu and Tonga in the west to the east, around 5 degrees north of the Tropic of Cancer. The country’s major islands (which are mostly of volcanic origin) Viti Levu (where the capital is located) and Vanua Levu. The landscape is generally mountainous fully. The climate is tropical, rainy, albeit moderated by marine influence and the fertile soil in the lowlands allows the cultivation of sugarcane and cobra. The sea is threatened by overfishing and pollution from the cities. The aquatic environment is threatened by intensive fishing and pollution in coastal areas. The country is also affected by deforestation.
