Czech Republic
Czech Republic is with its current borders of a young country. It was formed on 1 January 1993 as one of two heirs of the former Czechoslovakia. Czech Republic consists of the two historic landscapes of Bohemia and Moravia, and a small part of the landscape Silesia. It is surrounded by land on all sides and border countries are Germany in the north and west, Austria to the south, east Slovakia, and Poland in the north.
History.
In 1989, lived through the former Czechoslovakia the peaceful Velvet Revolution and the country was at. 1. January 1993 split into the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Czech Republic joined NATO in 1999 and the first May 2004 EU member.
Geography.
The country consists of two historic landscapes of Bohemia and Moravia, and a small part of the landscape Silesia.
The country bordering Germany to the north and west, Austria to the south, east Slovakia and Poland in the north.
Czech Republic is a flat land surrounded by mountains. The country is very fertile, thanks to the many rivers that cut through the country. For these are the Elbe and Vltava.
