China

China is a country in East Asia since 1949 de facto split in two, with governments both claiming to be the country’s rightful manage: People’s Republic of China (with the capital Beijing) covering all mainland provinces and the Republic of China (with the capital Taipei) which only covers the province and the island of Taiwan (Formosa) and some small islands near the province Fúji?n.

China is the world’s oldest still existing civilization. Its history is characterized by repeated divisions and reunions between successive periods of peace and war, and violent dynastic change. Power was concentrated like in the Chinese emperor’s hands, but switched sometimes to powerful officials or regional warlords. The country’s territorial distribution has varied in history. For many centuries, particularly from the 7th century through the 14th century, China was the world’s most advanced civilization and was East Asia’s dominant cultural center. In 18 – and 1900-century the country was too weak to beat European colonialism and Japanese invasion, and joints while under internal conflicts that led to its division. Communist victory in the Chinese Civil War established the People’s Republic of China on the mainland, while the Republic of China government still controlled Taiwan and some smaller islands.

Its population of over one billion represents a fifth of humanity, and is composed predominantly (93%) of the Han Chinese. Significant minorities include Manchuria. The Chinese language is composed of a series of spoken variations.

The size of the country is 9,597,960 square kilometers.

History of China

The Chinese civilization emerged along the Huang He-eleven in North China. Tang Dynasty is of most Chinese people counted as the country’s cultural golden age in which calligraphy and poetry reached its highest level ever. The Mongols broke through the wall in 1200-century and founded the Yuan Dynasty. They were shortly afterwards assimilert in Chinese culture, and was overthrown and succeeded by the Ming Dynasty. In the Ming period the capital was moved to Beijing and the Forbidden City was built. Chinese Navy began to make expeditions to other continents, an activity which ended just before the Europeans for the first time China reached its merchant ships.

Until the 1700 century, China had a clear technological advantage over the peoples of Central Asia, but also lagged behind that of Europe. This laid the foundation of the 1800′s defensive rejection from the Chinese side to European imperialism while itself as China expanded inwards towards Central Asia.

In 1912 came the Chinese empire under, and was replaced by Republican state government in the country. The following three decades were a time of division; krigsherrenes time the second Sino-Japanese War (1937-1945) and the Chinese Civil War. The last died out in 1949 when the Chinese Communist Party had won control of Continental China.

During the massacre in Nanjing in 1937 killed japan were allegedly over 300,000 Chinese people in just six weeks. The relationship between Japan and China remain strained as a partial consequence of what happened in China before and during the second World War, and how Japan has dealt with this on in posterity. While the Germans have paid billions in compensation, built memorials and asked for apology, many believe that Japan insults his victims to worship war criminals as gods.

Communist Party founded a communist state-the People’s Republic of China – which claimed to be the rettmæssige China. But the Republic of China’s Kuomintang government had taken refuge on Taiwan, where it still enjoyed international recognition of the entire Western bloc and the United Nations. This lasted until the 1970s when the United Nations and most Western countries chose to recognize the People’s Republic instead.
