Bhutan
Kingdom of Bhutan is a Himalayan country, which is sandwiched between India and China. The country is to some extent, economically and politically dependent on India. Until 1961 the country was closed to visitors, and thus controlled tourism. The country is the only site where mahayanabuddhisme is state religion, and the authorities attach great importance to stimulate traditions such as the use of national dress.
The national name Druk Yul means Thunder rich. Druk stage used in many configurations: King’s “title” Druk Gyalpo, the airline Druk Air and Internet company drowned.
History
Bhutan was established as a polity in the first half of the 1600s, the Tibetan lama and Prince shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal (d. 1651). With him were also set up a theocratic tradition, Tibetan Buddhism had a decisive influence on the government custom. From 1705 to 1907 the country was ruled by two parallel sides; Archbishop Je Khenpo and the governor Druk Desi.
Between 1772-1865, there were several skirmishes between Bhutan and British colonial forces from India. In a peaceful end in 1865 had to Bhutan will allow rural areas to India, but got in return an annual compensation. In the decades that followed, there were still civil war conditions in Bhutan, between the pro-British penlop in Trongsa, Ugyen Wangchuck and his rival, the pro-Tibetan penlop of Paro. Ugyen took control over the country and helped ago, in 1904, the British colonial powers to conclude an agreement with authorities in Tibet. Ugyen was knighted for this and succeeded in 1907 being inaugurated as Bhutan’s first king.
Through the 1900-century, there have been more levers toward a “normalization” of Bhutan’s government practice and society. At India’s independence in 1949 began Bhutan process of establishing normal foreign policy relationships with the outside world, a process that culminated with the country joined the UN in 1971. In the period 2003-2006 an ongoing process that should give Bhutan a own constitution and make the country more as a democratic, constitutional monarchy.
