Belarus also called Belarus is a country in eastern Europa.Landet called officially the Republic of Belarus It has previously been part of the Soviet Union. Belarus has 9.6 million inhabitants (2009), of whom 11.5% are Russians
Geography
Belarus is a mostly flat country with no natural boundaries which covers an area of 207,600 square kilometers. Neighbouring countries are Russia in the east and north, Latvia to the north, Lithuania to the northwest, Poland to the west and Ukraine in the south. The landscape is dominated by some 3,000 rivers and 4,000 lakes, forests and fields, and some places swamp land, while in the north are hills up to 345 meters above sea level.
Belarus has a typical inland climate, with wet, cold winters and hot, humid summers. January – 5 degrees Celsius, in July + 18 degrees Celsius.

Demographics
81% describe themselves as ethnic Belarusians, while 11% describe themselves as Russians. There is also a significant Polish (approx. 4%) and Ukrainian (approx. 2%) minorities.
